Many Facebook and YouTube videos start with a great audio track::
At Bluejay Star Recording we believe that if you are going to spend your energy making a video it should have a good audio track. Many videos on Facebook or YouTube start with a separately recorded audio file. Examples of this are when a musician is performing outdoors or in a room with poor acoustics, yet they have a really good sound. Or even more obvious is when there is an entire orchestra accompaniment in the sound but no orchestra in the video.
Why is a high quality recording important?
If the sound track for a video is distorted or of poor quality it tends to create the impression of amature work. Which is ok. But why not make your video stand out! You will moist likely get more "likes" and more views with a good sound track. Also if your son or daughter is interested in music, having a high quality video of their work can be important for entry into college. Even if they do not pursue music this will be a video that you can cherish for years to come.
What can it cost to produce a high quality recording?
Depending on the instrumentation and how many hours it takes the cost of a high quality recording can be expensive. For example the cost to use a studio for a day is typically $300 or more. Then add the recording engineer at $50 an hour. Also to save time and produce the best possible accompaniment, accomplished studio musicians are recommended. They will probably charge at least $50 an hour. If a group is needed it then becomes $50/hour times the size of the group – although they may have a group rate. It may also be possible to contract the accompaniment at a fixed price. Is it becoming clear that a good recording can add up to a lot of expense?

Unless you child is very confident, recording in the home can be of great benefit. A performance in the child’s favorite practice or performance room can help them to be at ease. A relaxed recording almost always is conducive to the best rendition of the work. This will show in the final product! Here is an example of recording made in a living room:
Accompaniment: Send or tell us what sheet music or song you wish to have performed. Using modern transcription techniques we will provide a flawless background musical accompaniment to your child’s solo performance. Here is an example of a previous recordings where the only live part is one recorded instrument. Can you tell which one is the live instrument?
Editing: No one is perfect although we do try! So we can help make corrections to small flaws such as timing, intonation, dynamics, and room acoustics. These will help the performance to shine. On this subject we must add that the absolute best case is to do almost no editing at all. This will become a matter of preparation and skill. Even so we can do several “takes” over any rough spots. ‘More to say on this.
Archival: We can send you the audio track in any format you wish. Most likely this will be an mp3 file as that is what is used to sync to video files. But we can convert it to any format you want.
